Gospel Baptist Church Beliefs

What We Believe

We believe that God loves you. There is nothing more important we could list first. We want you to have a Passion for God that will bring a Compassion for People.

About God - We believe there is only one true God, yet He exists in three persons: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is the creator and everything belongs to Him and is under His control. God is holy, He is good, righteous and loving. God knows everything and has a purpose for our lives. No person, thing or idea compares to God.

About the Bible - We believe that the Bible is 100% accurate, reliable and our final authority. We believe in the inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible.

About People - We are made in God’s image and for His pleasure. But, we are sinners. As a result, we are separated from God, even though He wants an intimate relationship with each of us and has a specific purpose in our lives for us.

About Salvation - That’s why Jesus, God’s son, came and lived on this earth, died and rose again. God offers His free gift of salvation to all who believe in Jesus and accept Him as Savior - the only way to be forgiven and reconciled to God. Anyone who accepts this gift is welcomed into the family of God and will live forever with Him in heaven.

About The Church - A New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local congregation of baptized believers that seek to extend the good news of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. In our church we want each person to Discover, Develop and Deploy your spiritual gifts to build a healthy body of Christ.

The Ordinances - Are to be observed commemorating Christ’s works for the church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper/Communion. Baptism is practiced by individuals as a symbolic or (outward) expression of personal (inward) identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord's Supper/Communion is practiced as a symbolic reminder of His provision for salvation for the church.

The Family - God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's image. The marriage relationship models the way God relates to His people. Children, from the moment of conception, are a gift from God.
